Lutradur
Lutradur is a great product which you can paint with acrylics, cut, burn, applique or sew. You can also print directly on to it. Lutrdur is a man made, non-woven material available in a variety of thicknesses in either white or black. It is really easy to paint with diluted acrylic paint and dries quickly. When cut with scissors it does not fray and it can also be cut with a soldering iron or heated with a heat gun. Lutradur is a great fabric to use as a background, bondaweb to fabric or sew onto fabric. There are several online suppliers of Lutradur, among them is Ineke Berlyn, whose website also has a gallery of her work. My windsurf picture was made on a workshop run by Ineke. It uses lutradur spray painted with acrylic paint, layered with bondaweb. The windsurf sail was cut out with a soldering iron which cuts through the lutrdur really smoothly. I then free-machined over the surface. Some of the white wave spray was made by using a hot air gun on white painted lutradur.
