Photos on Fabric
If you have an image which you would like to transfer onto fabric there are several options available.
T Shirt Transfer Paper is widely available, I bought mine from Tescos. It is available for transfer onto white fabric or dark fabrics. Any image you can print onto paper can be transferred onto the T Shirt Paper and then ironed onto fabric. The image surface ends up quite shiny and if you stitch into the image itself you will end up with holes in the image. It is better for use where you will only be stitching around the image. I used it with a set of photos of Broadstairs beach. I chopped up the prints and re-assembled in a line on calico. I then free machine quilted some waves, shells, clouds and seagulls.
Prepared Photo Fabric is available online and from fabric stores. Several different manufacturers make it, and it tends to give fabrics which are much softer to work with afterwards. There is even an organza available.
Bubble Jet Set is a product which you can use to create your own printable fabric. It can work out cheaper than the prepared sheets but requires work to use it.
You can print onto Lutradur.
